LIGHTING
'Tavistock in it's Best Light'

Following on from the Town Alive project several ideas were raised by residents of Tavistock and surrounding areas, one of which was to illuminate historic buildings and places of interest. In consultation with international lighting specialists, Philips the proposed displays would include the East Gate archway, the viaduct, part of the river bank, the Cornmarket, the two bank buildings on the corner of West Street / Bedford Square and Abbey bridge over the river Tavy. Details of the lighting project were displayed at the T.A.V.I. Brokering Event on 16th June 2004 held in the Town Hall. This project has been put on hold for the time being.

TOWN SIGNAGE

Since it's conception in 1999, Tavistock Forward has been a champion for Town Signage particularly at the various entrances to this prosperous market town. Tavistock was awarded the accolade 'Best Market Town in the United Kingdom' by the Daily Telegraph and CPRE in 2004.

Tavistock Town Council and Tavistock Forward worked closely together to obtain funds to provide the new signage. The blue plaques have now been designed and can been seen placed around the town on buildings of note such as the Cornmarket
in West Street.
