How Tavistock EatWise ~ Eat Local Campaign won the 'Best Overall Food Award'

Survey Winner ~ Right recipe for Maggie 'How to get your FREE EatWise sticker' Suppliers, producers, hotels, restaurants, care homes, schools and colleges from Tavistock and surrounding area (see map) who produce, sell, serve or buy 'local produce' are entitled to receive a FREE sticker.
'Local produce' is defined as food grown, produced and sold in the West Country which includes Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Please display your sticker somewhere prominent for everyone to see. The EatWise Campaign will continue!

'No need to shop around in Tavistock' says Western Morning News reporter,
Peter Harrison... TAVISTOCK EatWise Campaign featured at Plymouth Food Festival The Western Morning News backed competition for the Best Local Food Award was represented at the Plymouth Food Fest last weekend. Competition organiser, Chris Bradford offered competitors a chance to promote their entries on his stand. The Food Fest event attracted 100,000 visitors over the weekend. Tavistock EatWise Campaign members produced a special flier for the occasion which will also be used to inspire visitors and residents alike to the benefits of eating locally produced food from Tavistock and the surrounding area. What the Judges will look for ... Judges of the Best Local Food Awards will be evaluating communities on the following criteria:-
The judging will not begin until November 1, giving entrants time to organise their entry. Chris Bradford, project co-ordinator, said: "We recommend that communities establish a 'competition committee' to represent all the interested parties and to maximise the impact of their entry. Between May, 2005, and March 31, 2006, the Western Morning News will select communities from the list of entrants, and run feature articles highlighting their involvement with the Buy Local campaign. Judging will be completed by March 31, 2006.
